on the bus today, i saw two very different couples.
one couple had 2 daughters and they were sitting on the opposite sides of the bus,facing each other.the ones where you sit and get headachy cos it's in the wrong direction.the dad kept asking the mum to pass the waterbottle over to him cos it was a hassle to her.but she just ignored him blatantly,and pretended he didn't exist.
then when i was getting off the bus,in front of me was the second couple.the guy helped the girl off the bus,and i was thinking it was such a stark contrast to the other couple i saw.and at the bus stop, i saw the guy helping the girl along the pavement,so she wouldn't trip and fall.
the difference in these two couples doesn't lie only in their company,but their age.the first couple was middleaged,the second was an elderly couple.
it got me thinking.if love dies off in the middle of a relationship, does that mean that one married the wrong person?made the wrong choice?then what's one to do?
there are so many divorces i've been hearing about, from people around me about their parents.it makes me wonder about the fragility of a marriage.i always believed marriage was something more than a piece of paper, more than just a signature on the dotted line, more than a ring, more than the dress, ceremony, people.i felt it is the affection each other's going to develop between each other, the sticking to each other between thick and thin, the communication, the feelings, that one person to stay no matter what happens.but nowadays, sometimes it seems it's worth less than a piece of paper.sigh.
it's true you don't know what you have till you lose it.war of the worlds, london bombing and today has taught me that.treasure what you have in front of you.pity i always overlook so many things. sigh.
